discourage the pacifier

Hello all, a quick story to share....I went to the doctor last week, and the doc said my parents might want to start 'discouraging the pacifier'. Well doc, you might take away my pacifier, but I found many other things to take its place. Like......

baby its cold outside

Well folks, winter hath arrived in chicago, its a balmy 6 degrees today, and -20 windchill, so out comes the snowsuit. Mommers and I took a little walk to starbucks, and that was quite enough winter for me!

Here's me getting my christmas fashion on....

And here's a great one of my beer gut. I think it looks worse than it really is since my pajamas have horizontal lines on them.
Enjoy the bonus blog post this week! In other news, I slept 8 hours on tues night without waking up once, its been 5 months since I have done that! I think because the incoming chompers are taking a break. Welcome Brian Kelly to ND Football, Ta, Baby Jake

crazy november

helloooo to everyone, well again sorry for no posts for a month but its been rather busy around here, my parents keep hauling me off to various places...

so first I went to see grammy & grandpa kinninger in California, here's a cute shot of me taking a bath in their sink:

I also got to meet my birthday buddy Katherine in California. I'm a little shy of chicks right now though, note my concerned face.

Katherine had this great toy though, I liked it so much my parents ordered it for me when we got home :) I am practicing walking and building stuff with the blocks.

when I came home and grandma hughes came to play for a week, she also got me to eat friut!

then we drove up to minneapolis for my mommers college buddy, Dessa. I got to dance with the bride! but the drive was a little long in the car seat, I think I prefer to fly.

I have 8 chompers now and also got my first ear infection, bummer. I am just under 23lbs and 30 inches, so the doctor says, which is about 90% all around. sorry for the patchy update, but at least got up some new pics! -baby jake

chompers x4

Hellllooo to all. A quick post with me in my Halloween costume (thank you aunt jennifer!)

See those top two chompers? I have a total of 4 teeth in now and more popping in soon. Is this teething business never ending? My parents are thinking of trying out the alcohol onto the gums remedy, the question for the blog readers out there, do you use whiskey, vodka, tequila, rum or ?

My cheapo parents broke down and actually bought me my own little chair. Its got my name on it, and its actually too small for our kitty cat to lay in. (he is 20lbs, I finally weigh more than him!)
Here is me and dadders....and my rolls..... think of us on Tuesday, making the flight out to LA!
later all, Baby Jake

look out, I'm mobile!

Helllloooo to all....

Good news, the camera battery charger has been found, camera recharged and now I have new photos to put up!

The big news is that last friday I figured out how to crawl forward, now I'm unstoppable! I have been opening drawers, sticking my fingers in the kitty cats water dish, and all sorts of trouble, I love it! I also attended my second tailgate last week, too bad the Irish couldn't put the Trojans down :(

My two top chompers have been coming in for weeks now, and as such, I tend to wake up every 2-3 hours, I like to teeth on the crib bar... I can't pull myself up to it yet, mommers helps stand me up in there...
Here's me standing again trying to tickle dadders toes....

I can say ba-ba, da-da, ma-ma, ga-ga, and have started to wave sometimes!

Happy Birthdays to Uncle Steve and Grammy Kinninger. I have quite an adventure planed for next week, I am flying to California with dadders to visit Grammy & Grandpa Kinninger and Uncle Steve. Am also hoping to meet my birthday buddy, Katherine Fredricks! Mommers is going on a business trip down to Trinidad and will meet us there 3 days later. Will see if I am still a good flier....

Kayak Kaper

Hello everyone, well apologies again for being a slacker blog updater. Now the issue is that my parents have lost the camera charger and the camera battery is, you guessed it, dead. so just throwing some old pictures out there for now..... and now something a little different this week, the kayak kaper story....

When we showed up at the lake house last Saturday, our kayak was MIA. Now everyone leaves their canoes and kayaks out on their lawns etc, so it seemed pretty strange that our kayak was targeted for thievery. But alas it only seemed logical that it must have been commandeered. Here is a picture of said kayak during the floods last year:

My mommers really loves this kayak and was quite looking forward to taking me for rides next year on it! So she planned to file a police report on Monday and hand out fliers (not unlike those you see for a lost cat). While dadders looked on craigslist to see if there was a similar kayak for sale in the area.
On Sunday, we saw an orange kayak on the lake, but it turned out to be just a one person kayak, so we didn't go interrogate them. (But suspicious really, it was 35degrees outside, who kayaks in that weather, alas I digress) Later, we pulled our boat out since the weather has gotten so cold, (we lost hope for one last good boating day. ) Now picture this, dadders is attempting to back the boat into the garage, I was pretty unhappy that no one was holding me, so I was SCREAMING MY HEAD OFF from the backseat as dadders was desperately concentrating, then a random dog came up and kept running under the trailer and all around further complicating the boat backing. Mommers was trying to chase it down, and still trying to let dadders know if he was going to hit the garage with the boat. Several neighbors walked by who all seemed to feel this site was highly amusing, by pointing and laughing histerically.

Then a police car came by and mommers flagged it down, to see if he might be so kind to return the crazy dog who was making the boat backing quite difficult, and also to report her missing kayak. The kind officer eventually got the doggie put away. Mommers then told him about our missing kayak, and low and behold! indeed the police had picked up the kayak just floating in the lake earlier this week. Turns out there was a mighty windstorm that must have blew the kayak off the dock, which is quite amazing since this kayak is pretty heavy. We headed over to the station to ID our kayak and take it home. Which was another small feat, strapping the kayak to the roof of your car might seem straightforward, but its really quite a challenge. I believe I saved the day by giving up my baby blanket to keep the kayak from scratching the roof of the car.

The moral of the story is, tie your kayak to your dock......

Thanks to grandma for these pics:

me smiley....

Me in a serious mood...
Me reading a map...
Me laughing:
Shout out to Grammy & Grandpa Kinninger who are touring Japan right now!!

I've been doused!

helllloooooo to all. its been busy busy busy times around our house. last weekeend was my baptism! Grandma & Grandpa Hughes flew from Colorado and Grammy & Grandpa Kinninger flew from California to be there. I do love it when they come to spoil me :)

so the whole weekend went pretty well, only problem was I wasn't feeling great!!! the dr said I am working on getting my top 4 teeth, plus I had a cold with my first fever, plus I had to get my shots. on the bright side, I am no longer an outlier, well at least for weight (85%) and head circ (95%), still technically off the chart for height.

here is some pictures from the weekend, firstly, here's me with the 'rents:

Here's me with Grandma & Grandpa Hughes, got some nice nature in the background there...its the Notre Dame campus...

Here's me with Grammy & Grandpa Kinninger, thats the Log Chapel in the background, where I was baptized.

Here's me with my God parents, Uncle Steve and Dana!

And here's the big moment, doused by Fr. Greg. Fr. Greg was a buddy of my mommers when they were at ND together, he was ordained 2 years ago and lucky enough is teaching at ND this fall.
Here's a shot of everyone, Dana, Brain, Jen, Steve, Andrew, Reagan (being shy) ME!, dadders, mommers, and Lisa! post baptism, we headed over to for a celebratory baptismal tailgate, and of course then ND beat Michigan State!

and here's me showing off my Irish spirt with Grandpa...

Thats it from here, will try to be more diligent with the blog posts, the goal is one per week...

We have a winner....

and its sweet potatoes!!! why exactly did I have to suffer thru weeks of rice cereal attempts? why didn't they just start with sweet potatoes??? my parents also tried out some green beans, but I hacked that right back at'm. Stick with the yummy stuff folks. I still require some practice at eating, I tend to be a bit messy yet.....

Here's me sticking my tongue out, I love love love to stick my tongue out now!

Here's me being cute little angel baby....if my parents say otherwise, they are obviously misguided, I mean look at the proof in this picture!

Here's me and dadders back from a swim in the lake. check out those swim trunks, you might have seen them sported also by a celebrity kiddo in people magazine. Who knew I was already a trend setter.

Next week should be pretty exciting, both sets of my grandparents are flying into see me, as I am getting baptized and going tailgating afterward..... Go Irish!

Want to give a quick shout out to my cousin Nicholas who just celebrated a birthday, and also to Grandpa Hughes whose birthday is coming up :)

love thy lake

Hi all, this time I decided to share the spotlight of the blog with some action shots of my parents. Here is dadders on the tube. He kept saying mommers was trying to kill him with her boat driving, but he looks pretty happy to me...
Here is mommers back on water skis after a 10 year hiatus. She said her muscles were like jello afterward. Dadders was up on one ski, but alas no pictures, will have to get one the next time.

And of course, here's me! I get pretty sleepy on the boat, our friend Patricia was nice enough to hold me in the bjorn. Notice my outfit? Its my bear snowsuit, it turns out that my snowsuits double well as 'boat suits', they keep me toasty when the boat is going fast, and also keep me well covered from the sun, and its pretty likely I will be too big to wear them this winter anyway :)

In other news, I can now:
-sit up and not fall over
-stand and balance by holding onto the couch
-make babababa noises, not just vowels anymore.

I also got my first cold, not too surprising since I started day care. I gave it to mommers too, she was not excited, she hadn't been sick since may 2008! but I can't suffer alone now can I? Yesterday they said I had a great day at day care, I smiled a lot, and I also went thru 3 outfits, coincidence?

Stick around summer, I got more swimming to do.

Dos Fangs

Hello again to all the followers of the great adventures, alas I am well aware it has been way too long since my previous post, but my parents have continued on the photography and posting diet, it has actually been a pretty eventful few weeks…

We had a visit from DB & Hillary, who just moved to Madison, WI, I actually made a guest appearance on their blog J Then our friend Lauren was in town for a visit, and finally Grammy stopped in for a few days as well. Here’s a picture of me destroying these wimpy diapers, and then a picture with Grammy giving me a sink bath to clean up after diaper decimation. Care to count my creases and folds?

Now the next 3 photos you might notice are all taken in the same outfit, mommers decided to have a bit of a photo shoot today for the blog. First, here’s me trying to crawl, please note my tummy hath made it off the floor! I can’t go forward yet, but I am quite adept at going backward now, my mommers has found me under the futon and my crib when her back was turned, what can I say, I’m exploring!

Here’s me being an airplane, I am actually headed out in a few minutes to watch the Chicago air and water show practice.

Here’s me in my beloved excersaucer. I already have it on the tallest level ! But what the photo really shows well is my 2nd fang that has come in. When can I have some cookies??? This rice cereal stuff is crap. Sounds harsh, but its true.

Next week my mommers is going back to work part time, so I am headed to day care 3 days a week, 6 months old and already commuting! We went and tried it out this week for practice; they do have quite a nice toy selection. The best part though was getting to meet Dadders after work to going swimming.

Want to give a shout out to my cousins Zach, Brandon and Owen who are all celebrating or just celebrated birthdays. And welcome back to Auntie Tricia and Uncle Shane who have been off to see Iceland and England.....I think I will check into getting myself a passport :)

food and the fang

tag to all the great adventure followers, impressed not to be waiting a month for a new post? apparently the guilt trip I put on the parents for the procrastination is paying off!

first things first, I went to the doctor last week, and got all measured, I'm 28.25 inches long (coincidentally is off the chart), 19.3lbs (also off the chart) and my head was on the chart but at 95th percentile. the doc also said since I am back to sleeping 4 hour stretches, that I should cry out a feeding, given my weight is off the chart I won't starve.....I suggested to my parents to get a new doctor.

since i am just over 5 months old now, I have been trying out the delectable addition to my diet, rice cereal. however, at the moment I prefer to wear it rather than eat it.

last saturday, my first fang came in, steak and cookies here I come!

here's me with grandma and grandpa. I love when they visit, I get held and walked, and new toys, and new clothes imported from my colorado cousins....its awesome. my grammy from california is coming in a couple weeks too! I am soooo glad my grandparents are fliers.

Here's me doing my push-ups, can't believe tummy time became fun, can't wait to crawl, my parents can though, apparently they have to childproof once I hit that milestone, tough luck!

thats it from here, Ta, Baby Jake
